How many ways could Windowth die or sleep:
That is the question ...
Bill Shakes(if he lived today and used Windows)
No-name crash
MS-DOS, the veteran predecessor of Windows. Don't worry, it's a part of your Microsoft user agreement !
You die.
UAE
Unrecoverable Application Error. Don't write or use bad applications !
You are kindly informed that you are about to die.
GPF
General Protection Fault. Wow, progress, it's not yours anymore !
Just slightly less unrecoverable than UAE.
You may be given a choice to die right away or
after you agree to that by hitting OK.
BSOD
Blue Screen Of Death. This is no blue sky with clouds let alone diamonds !
You are politely explained that you are already dead but,
hey, the good news is that you got a screenful
of totally useless garbomation (i.e. some garbage
that Microsoft calls information; well, maybe for
them it is). Your choice is whether to call Microsoft
technical support and spend a lot of time and money just
to get an expert advice to reboot your system,
or to simply reboot without all this trouble.
What's next ?
What else can you expect in future from systems full of paradoxes,
where you have to Start in order to Shutdown, and even Shutdown
in case it Starts normally doesn't always successfully
Finish for some mysterious and unexplainable reasons ?
What would be the next logical step in operating systems for
21-st century ? Accidental System Stop Has Occurred;
License Expired
or, maybe System Halt Interrupt Trap ?
(This happens ...)
Or, perhaps, they should finally go with classics and
instead of calling it names signifying a failure start calling
it a feature, for instance Unplugged Feature Option, totally menu-driven ?
Who knows ?
If you think or have a strong feeling that you know, send your brilliant prophecies
to Microsoft Corporation and if it turns out
that your ideas help them implement their state-of-the-art products
of the future you might even be generously rewarded by having a tiniest
share of their huge profits. Don't loose your chance, buddy.
Good ... I mean luck !
